Ideas
Right now, California is at a critical juncture. We can continue to do what we’ve been doing and fall even further behind. Or we can tap into Californians’ incredible ingenuity to tackle and solve our toughest problems. Regardless of what the issue is, Yoriko knows that the solutions are here, in the 21st Assembly District, but it will take our collective efforts to make the changes we need in Sacramento.
Budget Reform
Yoriko has passed seven consecutive balanced budgets in Palo Alto. She knows more cuts to vital services is not the answer. She supports closing corporate loopholes to raise revenue and a constitutional convention to explore changes to get our state budget under control.
Economy & Jobs
Yoriko is a Stanford MBA and global competitiveness expert. She will be an experienced voice of reason to help craft effective job creation policy to ensure a healthier, more sustainable environment – making California a cleantech revolution leader.
Education
Yoriko has volunteered in local public schools and has seen firsthand the obstacles our students and faculty face. With our education system in crisis, she will use her experience to push for smart decisions to reverse the decline in K-12 funding and to make higher education accessible once again.
Environment
A lifelong environmentalist, Yoriko understands that we need leadership in Sacramento that not only has the knowledge and resources to craft innovative policy that encourages energy efficiency and environmental stewardship, but also the determination to drive it from conception to implementation.
Livable Communities
Yoriko first got involved in government to make her neighborhood safer and healthier for her family. Since then, she has lead the effort to create Palo Alto’s master plan and regional efforts to adopt smart, sustainable planning policies.
Health Care
Yoriko recognizes that our health care system is broken. She will work to control costs, end refusal of coverage due to pre-existing conditions and keep up the fight for a publicly administered option.
Infrastructure
Yoriko is committed to long-term investment in the Peninsula’s infrastructure. She knows that it is the only way to prepare for earthquakes and other natural disasters, to prepare for 21st century competitiveness and to lay the foundation for a greater quality of life.
Transportation
Yoriko is working with the Peninsula Cities Consortium on High Speed Rail to make sure our community has a role in shaping the future of this vital infrastructure development. She understands that smart transportation planning creates jobs and is vital to our environment.
Public Safety
Yoriko knows a blend of prevention, intervention and enforcement is the most effective way to keep our neighborhoods safe. She advocates investing in technology to increase public safety and improve our disaster preparedness. And her record shows a commitment to supporting our police officers and firefighters.
Technology
District 21 is home to the high-tech industry but there are many families across the state and locally that don’t yet have access to the Internet. Yoriko recognizes that we need to invest in modernizing our communication infrastructure in order to ensure our communities have the most up-to-date, reliable and efficient technology.
